Austin Public Safety Update from the Field and at City Hall
Featuring Lt. Christopher Juusola of APD & Tyler Latham, Executive Team Member of the Austin Police Association.
Join us for our monthly luncheon at the Austin Club on January 16 from 11:30am-1:00pm featuring APD Operations Lieutenant Christopher Juusola and Tyler Latham, Executive Staff member of Austin Police Association. Lt. Juusola will share important information on department staffing, crime trends, reporting incidents and specialized assistance for urgent matters from the field and Mr. Latham will discuss the politics of safety at city hall in Austin in 2025.
Bio
Lieutenant Christopher Juusola is a 17 year veteran of the Austin Police Department. He is currently assigned as the Operations Lieutenant for the Downtown Area Command (DTAC), where he assists the DTAC Commander with deploying all downtown personnel strategically after communicating with stakeholders and monitoring crime trends, planning for large scale events and festivals, and directly managing the Mounted Patrol Unit. LT Juusola also serves in additional voluntary roles as a platoon lieutenant for the Special Response Team, APD’s Crowd Management and Disaster Response Team, and as the elected treasurer for the Austin Police Association. His prior roles include patrol officer, mental health officer, field training officer, detective for the Residential Burglary and Commercial Burglary Units, patrol supervisor, and investigative unit supervisor.
Bio
Tyler Latham has been an officer with the Austin Police Department for 15 years. He is currently a Sergeant assigned full-time at the Austin Police Association. Tyler has served on the APA board of directors for 4 years and as part of the Executive Board for 2 years. Tyler served as the Chair of the APA Bargaining Team which reached a 5-year contract with the City of Austin in October 2024. Tyler also serves as the Member Engagement Committee Chair where he works to find ways to support officers through events for officers and their families.

CANCELATION POLICY: If cancelations are received in writing 3 days to the registration deadline stated on the event information page or as stated on the registration form, a refund or credit (Members only) will be granted. No refunds will be made for cancelations received after the deadline. Refunds will not be given for no-shows. However, substitutions will be accepted if an Attendee cannot attend an event at the last moment.
Due to the cost of merchant fees, the refund of any payment remitted by credit card will be made in the form of a check made out to the Payee designated by the Attendee. The check amount will reflect a deduction for the merchant fee(s) incurred at the time of the initial payment as an administrative fee.
Payment/Cancelation/Refund Policy
There are no cancelations for membership dues, sponsorship, the partner program and our signature events (Golf, Women In Action, Fall Event). Cancelation for luncheons are accepted within 3 days of the registration.
