Join us for an update from the Austin Police Department on issues such as homelessness, funding, response time, signage, active shooter, staffing and more.
Speaker: Assistant Chief Bauzon, Austin Police Department
Assistant Chief Bauzon began his career with the Austin Police Department in 1993, and has served in many areas across the department. During his twenty-nine year tenure, he spent time patrolling Central East Austin, Southeast Austin, and the Downtown Entertainment District. As a detective and sergeant, he investigated and oversaw complex cases in Homicide, Homicide Cold Case, Robbery, Child Abuse, and Internal Affairs. Assistant Chief Bauzon spent time at the Training Academy both as an instructor and as the Continuing Education Lieutenant. As a Commander, he directed Professional Standards, overseeing both Internal Affairs and Risk Management. Assistant Chief Bauzon was appointed to the rank of Assistant Chief in April 2021, and became the first Asian American to serve APD at this rank. He currently leads the Investigations Bureau.
